New framework regulation 2018/858 for vehicles and trailers in force

2007/46/EC is invalid

Framework directive 2007/46/EC was repealed on 1 September 2020. The directive was replaced by regulation (EU) 2018/858 of 30 May 2018 on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

The transition time was short, due to the fact that technical requirements are inside other EC and UNECE directives and regulations. Major changes are on the market surveillance. The european commission has the right to make market surveillance by their own. It is the first time that the minimum market surveillance cases for the national authorities are set.
