Product compliance for Distributors
In contrast to manufacturers and importers placing products on a market, distributors make them available for sale. Specific distributor obligations have been defined therefore by and for the EU, which must be observed at all times.
The distributor has to know all relevant regulatory requirements concerning product conformity and has to monitor compliance by the manufacturer and the importer respectively. The distributor may be required to withdraw or even recall products already sold if a market surveillance authority ascertains that those products fail to meet relevant product compliance requirements.
