Harmonized standards for directive 2013/53/EU on recreational craft and personal watercraft

In accordance with Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/919

On 5th June 2019, the Commission issued Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/919 on Directive 2013/53/EU in the Official Journal of the EU L 146. This implementing decision supplements or amends Communication 2018/C 209/05 from 15th June 2018.

The harmonised standards described in Annex I are listed in the Official Journal, conferring a presumption of conformity since 5th June 2019. In connection with Annex I and in accordance with Annex II, the standards listed there have been removed from the Official Journal, and thereby no longer confer a presumption of conformity. This implementing decision is legally binding and has been in effect since 5th June 2019.

Example: EN ISO 6185-1:2018 is first published in the Official Journal in accordance with Annex I. At the same time, the previous standard EN ISO 6185-1:2001 is removed from the Official Journal (with no transition period!) So users of standards must read and compare Annex I and Annex II in that context.

The Commission has been publishing harmonised standards in this way since 8th December 2018. Updates to the EMC, Low Voltage and Radio Equipment Directives have been expected for some time. In accordance with this new strategy, these too will be published in the Official Journal of the EU in the future.

The GLOBALnorm Standards Management System provides a straightforward way of capturing these connections more quickly.
