China: New RoHS conformity assessment system released

Valid from 01.11.2019

On 16th May 2019, the long-awaited implementing arrangements for a conformity assessment procedure in accordance with China RoHS were released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). As of 1st November 2019, electrical and electronic products listed in the product catalogue from 15th March 2018 must go through the relevant conformity assessment system.

The intention is that companies can choose between two conformity assessment methods:

  • Voluntary certification or
  • Self-declaration

In addition, in line with the announcement, all information on RoHS conformity is to be uploaded to an online platform. This, however, has not yet been started. It has yet to be defined which information is to be published. We will continue to keep you informed.
