New ISO 13849-1 on the safety of machinery published

Publication under the Machinery Directive is still pending

After intensive consultations, the new edition of ISO 13849-1 (2023-04) "Safety of machinery - Safety-related parts of control systems - Part 1: General principles for design", which is of great importance to the machinery industry, has now been published. EN ISO 13849-1 has also already been published and must now be issued by the respective national standards organizations.

The new version makes a number of specifications and the requirements for the application software more precise. Next, it must now be published under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC in the Official Journal of the European Union so that it will give presumption of conformity when applied.

We recommend that all machine builders familiarize themselves with the new regulations at an early stage. If you have any uncertainties or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
